Historical Significance of the Thanksgiving Day
Thanksgiving Day is observed in the United States, every year on the fourth Thursday of the November. It precedes Black Friday and was originally observed by Pilgrims and Native Americans to convey gratitude for the food gathered after the harvest season. Today, it is customary on Thanksgiving Day for families and friends to join in for a special meal including a turkey, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, and vegetables.

Many communities organize annual Thanksgiving feasts for poor and homeless families. You should locate such community service venues and spend some time helping prepare or serve meals over there. It is really worthwhile to help make a less privileged person’s holiday special because it makes your own holiday meal much more gratifying. Some organizations that volunteer to provide free Thanksgiving meals often find it difficult to source them, so in case if you are willing to help but incapable of lending a hand on Thanksgiving, opt for donating to your favorite charity instead as they might actually require your help.
